Localizing marketing materials into multiple languages necessitates a lot of attention to detail to make sure things don’t, ahem, get lost in translation. But above all else, marketing teams need consistency. Every team needs to follow the same QA process, and every review needs to happen in the same place. And when different teams are using different workflows with different combinations of Jira tickets and Google spreadsheets, consistency goes bye bye.

Annalisa Barbaglia, Localization Operations Manager at Vista, set out to rectify that. Ziflow gave her team the single source of truth they needed.

Who is Vista?

Vista is part of the Cimpress family of companies, best known for the VistaPrint brand. They sell mass customization of promotional and marketing materials. Annalisa’s team is responsible for localizing all marketing materials into multiple languages, which means every asset needs to go through a quality assurance review process before it goes live.

The challenge: no single process for QA

Before Ziflow, localization QA was carried out through a combination of Jira tickets and Google spreadsheets, but there wasn’t really a single process. Every team had their own different workflow, their own hodgepodge way of using those tools, and no centralized repository for QA results. Consistency, the most important thing in localization, was exactly what they were missing.

How Ziflow became their single source of truth

When Vista evaluated online proofing tools, Ziflow stood out on a couple fronts. First, it was the most robust option from an enterprise perspective. Second (and more importantly), Ziflow was the only vendor that said yes when Vista asked for custom automation to support their specific workflows.

“Ziflow was the only of the vendors that said ‘yep, we can build that for you’ and they delivered.”

Now every team comes to Ziflow for QA and workflows are customized per team’s needs, but everything runs through a single platform. That consistency in process is exactly what Annalisa was vying for.

Annalisa’s verdict

When asked for one word about Ziflow, Annalisa chose “partnership.” The tool itself has got muscle, but it’s the relationship with Ziflow’s team that makes it work. She trusts them to do their best to deliver the solutions her team needs.

And if there’s a close second word, it’s “consistency” (have we mentioned that word yet?). Localization is all about it, and Ziflow has helped break down the silos between different tools and workflows that had built up across the organization over time.

“I need to go back to consistency, which is a bit of an obsession that we have in localization.”
